In the bottom of Valjevo mountains Medvednik, Povlen and Maljen, lay pretty and greatly renowned villages for famous Nenadović family, famous poet Desanka Maksimović, Orthodox Bishop Nikolaj Velimirović, monasteries Lelić and Pustinja. Valjevska Kamenica, Podbukovi, Popučke, Stave are touristic villages, villages with preserved nature, large pastures and respectable households of diligent and hospitable hosts. Here they great visitors with homemade bread and salt, on traditional fashion, and offers him domestic brandy, home and corn bread made from flour of stream watermills.

Life and customs can be met through cottage industry. In the village of Kamenica there is accumulation lake, in which you can swim, fish, ride boats. You can buy at hosts all domestic products as well as products of cottage industry.

In the bottom of mountain Medvednik there is the village of Stave. Here they keep and nurture ancestral tradition of old Serbian leader, Ilija Birčanin, old Serbian houses, customs and folklore, which provides full relaxation for the people from urban environment. For those who want to enjoy hunting, the offer stands at feather game, wild boar and doe. Guests can, if they wish, to make their own winter supplies, fruit preserves and jams, and to attend to domestic brandy cooking, near cooking cauldron.

What you certainly must not miss to visit, while you are already in this area, are cultural historic monuments: Monastery Pustinja (14th century), with elements of school of Raška škole, old Jovanja church (17th century), monastery Ćelije (18th century), church of St Nikolas in Lelić, where reside the bones of St. Nikolaj Velimirović. Brankovina is the home place of the famous Nenadović family, statesmen and writers from 19th century: prince Aleksa, duke Jakov, archpriest Mateja, duke Sima and Ljuba Nenadović. In the churchyard of the Church of St. archangels Michael and Gabriel, in the shade of centuries old linden trees reside the bones of our famous poet Desanka Maksimović. In Brankovina are also the school of archpriest Mateja Nenadović, now “school museum”, Desanka Maksimović museum, uncle Ljuba’s cottage, ink workshop, as well as monuments to the national construction history.
